Malibu’s beaches got stellar grades from Heal The Bay in its annual beach report card. 

And for the fifth straight year … Malibu beaches came in with Sterling grades.

After years of flunking the test for bacteria and trash … Malibu’s beaches this year came in with straight A’s … except for one B … Puerco Beach at Marie Canyon … below Pepperdine.

Several beaches in Western Malibu made the Heal the Bay Honor Roll this year …  with a perfect A-plus grades every week all year.

And only two beaches in Los Angeles County were listed as seriously polluted … the beach at Santa Monica Pier … and Cabrillo Beach in the port of Los Angeles. 

The Santa Monica Pier is next to a major storm drain that dumps Street water into the ocean … Plus … the pier is home to hundreds of seabirds that poop in the ocean.

Santa Monica is building a huge underground tank next to the pier to hold storm water … for treatment … even during  rainstorms.

Statewide … a record 37 beaches made the honor roll.

And they heal the Bay report card shows a real trend towards better beach conditions up and down California.

The National Park Service will be using volunteers to conduct surveys of trail users in the Santa Monica Mountains in one week.

And alarms are being sounded in Malibu about that.

In news from over the hill … a huge proposed Agoura Hills building project at the gateway to Malibu has been tossed out by a judge.

Back in Malibu … about 25 hundred extra bicyclists will be on PCH tomorrow.

It’s the annual A AIDS/LifeCycle ride.

No police escort … no street closures. 

Just people riding bikes … from San francisco to Santa Moncia… rasiing money for charity.

It’s put on by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the the Los Angeles LGBT Center.Also this weekend … it’s L-A Pride Weekend. 

Lots of special events in town for that as well.

In the ocean … it’s ((((   57     )))) degrees in the water at Zuma Beach.

The lifeguards say the waves today are   ((((   1 to 3  )))) feet high …. 

((((  A  mix of west windswell and minor SW swell showing this morning, clean with bno winds. )))) 

Those are ((((  poor to fair )))) surfing conditions …. according to the lifeguards.

(((((  Low tide is at 11:56 this morning.

A 4-point-8 foot high tide will arrive at 6:42 PM.   ))))
