Artist Lindsay Carron carefully paints the storm drain on Heathercliff Road. She said she was surprised at how much she enjoyed painting for hours a day on her hands and knees. “The position on the ground actually allowed me to focus even more and almost dive right into my paintings.”

Artist Lindsay Carron recently completed four murals as part of the city’s “Keep It Clean Malibu” campaign. Over the last few weeks Carron has created murals depicting the ocean and sea life within. Carron explains that the intention is to make everyone aware that what goes into the Malibu storm drains goes into the ocean, and this can be harmful to the ocean life.

“Each storm drain depicts a different lively and healthy ocean scene. Trancas (Canyon) Park features dolphins, sea lions play at Heathercliff Road, Phillip Avenue and Morning View Drive sport sharks, and Cross Creek Road depicts a coral reef with an octopus and jelly fish,” she said.
