Rose B. York, the mother of The Malibu Times publisher Arnold G. York, died quietly in her sleep at her apartment in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 6, three months shy of her 100th birthday.
Rose York, a frequent visitor to Malibu, had been active in Operation Recovery after the 1993 Malibu fires that destroyed almost 400 homes, and was involved in several other community activities. York was a school secretary in the New York City school system before her retirement.
She was active and intellectually alert up to the age of 94 and then slowly declined over the last few years.
She is survived by her son, Arnold, daughter-in-law Karen York, daughter Matti Feldman and son-in-law Richard Feldman, and several grandchildren: Erika Feldman of New York, Clayton York of Los Angeles and Anthony York of Sacramento. Private funeral services took place in New York.
