The Waves collected their third victory in a row against San Diego this past weekend — with a 50 percent shooting average during the game.

Senior guard Lamond Murray Jr. put 17 points on the board, grabbing the West Coast Conference’s Player of the Week for the second time this month. Senior guard Jeremy Major contributed 10 points and five assists, and became the first Wave in program history to hit more than 100 assists in his college career.

“We didn’t buckle in the second half,” Pepperdine Coach Marty Wilson said in a statement provided to The Malibu Times. “The key was to be solid and to mix up our defenses, and it slowed them up to where they couldn’t get comfortable.”

Combining its driving offense with what is said to be one of the team’s best defensive efforts, the Waves closed out the match with a 65-60 win.

Pepperdine continues its consecutive road game streak with a matchup against Santa Clara tonight, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m., and a Saturday, Feb. 18, challenge with Loyola Marymount at 3 p.m.
