Ferocious storm surf tore several stairs from their decks on Las Flores Beach and carried them away before high tide on Saturday morning as rainy weather continued to bring storm swells to local beaches.
Las Flores Beach resident Roxanne McCann said she saw “lots of stairwells” ripped out due to the waves.
“We saw lots of stairs go by in the last couple of hours, and then our stairwell was ripped out too and went racing away in the high surf,” McCann said. “The waves are ferocious here on Las Flores Beach.”
Malibu continues to be under a High Surf Advisory with local sets expected to reach heights as high as 14 feet, according to the National Weather Service. The surf is expected to subside slowly from Saturday night through Sunday.
