Letter: City Hall Woes

Today, I went to city hall at 7:30 a.m. to start my rebuild. First, I saw a sign that said “Miramar” or “Paragon,” then a sign directing me to the senior center, then “City Hall” hidden behind a tree. I searched for the fire rebuild desk—no one was there for 25 minutes. There was no bell. When they came, they told me the person who mans the debris removal desk would not get in until 9 a.m. because “he lives in La Habra.”

There is no fire desk because that’s L.A. County.

As I leave, I catch a sign telling me to sign up for emergency alerts. I lose it a little and begin ranting because I did sign up for emergency alerts but they never came, and had I relied on my alerts on Nov. 9, I would be dead now. People look down and try to look extremely busy at their empty desks.

On to Waterworks District 29, which adds a new and masterful level of difficulty as it is located behind the library. I had to pass camping homeless men just to get to it. Well played, City of Malibu, well played. I decided to come back later with protection.
