Zira Alma Wood died on Aug. 14. She was 88.
Wood was a longtime Malibu resident who had been a speech therapist and was known for her thirst for knowledge. A cancer survivor, she remained active in retirement, participating in book, movie and writing groups. She had lived abroad and enjoyed travelling. Friends and family knew her as an independent spirit
