This November is a special month of Thanksgiving for Malibu.
Thanks to this council who, with grace, dignity and a bit of humor, tried tirelessly to compromise the California Coastal Commission’s plan for Malibu which we now know is not capable of being compromised.
Thanks to the citizens of the free city of Malibu who demanded their voice be heard by signing the “Let Malibu Decide” petition for a referendum.
Thanks to the small group of volunteers, self assigned, who worked tirelessly to decode and unravel the Commission staff’s plan, which was designed to relentlessly tighten the noose around the neck of Malibu, making compromise impossible.
Thanks to all the citizens who gave up a day to attend and speak before the coastal hearings while watching the chair’s attempt to orchestrate the event by continuously shuffling the order of calling on people to testify.
Thanks to the City of Malibu for being that special place which has always been worth fighting for in the past and is worth fighting for now and in the future. The spirit and land of Malibu that has captured us all, once again calls us all to its defense.
