ABC has pulled the plug on “Malibu Country,” the sitcom starring country singer Reba McEntire and set in Malibu.
The comedy starred McEntire as a woman who moves her mother, played by Lily Tomlin, and children to Malibu after her rock star husband cheats on her. McEntire’s character then attempted to revive her own singing career and protect her children from a “materialistic” Malibu.
Co-produced by McEntire, the show premiered in November, taking the 8:30 p.m. Friday evening time slot.
The show started as a pilot and was then ordered as a series for the 2012-2013 primetime schedule.
According to the L.A. Times, the show averaged about 7 million total viewers during the season and a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
