The issue of the illegal placement of huge trees that block the ocean and sunset views at the corner of Cliffside Drive and Birdview Avenue comes down to a case of bullying. The speculators of the project at 7377 Birdview have threatened the neighbors and are apparently threatening the city staff to allow their illegal trees in their development project to remain. The developer’s representative has grossly violated their 2008 approved landscape plan by installing huge trees that can attain heights of 50 to 60 feet which will continue to block the public and private views forever.
It reminds me of the bully at school that gets his way by pushing around the kids on the playground, badgering the teachers and threatening the principal until he gets his way. But in this case it appears to be bullying and leading the planning staff, biologist and directors around and possibly the City Council members too, so as to allow his violations to remain. How is it, that in this day and age, the city representatives can have the wool pulled over their eyes?
