The following was addressed to Assemblywoman Julia Brownley.
I’m not on the Malibu Chamber Governmental Committee this year, but I am Chairman of the Malibu Planning Commission. I want to bring to your attention a real problem we have in Malibu that continues to get worse.
As reflected in a “letter to the editor” from Mr. Vince Van Patten, there are unsafe intersections where accidents occur on a regular basis.
I feel it is time for the state of California to review the speed limit set on PCH where it goes through the more congested residential and commercial areas.
I believe safe speeds in the short stretches of PCH through the Point Dume area and the area around the Malibu Pier should be as low as 35 miles per hour.
