Advocates for Malibu Public Schools (AMPS) has launched an online page gathering signatures of those who pledge to sign an in-person petition to place a district separation initiative on an upcoming ballot.
The page, found at ampsmalibu.org/ballot_petition, has a goal of gathering 4,500 signatures of registered voters from the City of Malibu and unincorporated Malibu who will then have the opportunity to sign an official paper petition by Nov. 1.
Recent signatures on the page include those of Malibu Mayor John Sibert and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education member (and former AMPS President) Craig Foster, who signed alongside a total of more than 100 signatories as of Aug. 18.
AMPS has a Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. at Malibu City Hall.
