Local Hailey Hoffman was recently named a semifinalist in the Los Angeles Music Center 2013 Spotlight Awards. The Malibu High School junior was chosen out of 250 classical singers, who auditioned from seven Southern California counties. The semifinalists participated in a Classical Voice Master Class at Disney Hall with former Metropolitan Opera singer Cynthia Munzer, who now serves as associate professor of vocal arts and opera at the Thornton School of Music at USC.Â
Each semifinalist will audition again before a panel of dramatic arts professionals, who will then select the top two performers to advance to the final competition, the Spotlight Awards Gala Performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on May 4.Â
