A 50-year-old man was rescued after his car went over Topanga Canyon Boulevard

The Malibu/Lost Hills Search and Rescue (SAR) team, along with the L.A. County Fire Department, responded to a vehicle over the side on Topanga Canyon on Sunday night.

The incident took place at 9:20 p.m. at the “Topanga Overlook.” A red sedan had fallen into heavy brush and trees, several hundred feet over the side of the road.

Fire personnel and Malibu SAR searched the hillside while an LAPD helicopter searched from the air. The helicopter crew located the victim, a 50-year-old male from Nebraska, and directed rescuers to his location. After an evaluation, it was determined the man was uninjured.

This was the team’s 96th rescue this year.
