The Malibu High School football team lost its opening game of the season on Saturday, falling to Bellarmine-Jefferson by a score of 25-7. A player’s parent told The Malibu Times, “The team is using a slightly different offense this season. I think it will take a little adjustment period. The varsity team has a lot of talent and size on it, so we should have a good season. The temperature at game time was over 100 degrees. With the Sharks having fewer players on the team this year, the heat was a factor.”

The junior varsity had better luck, winning its season opener, 25-6.

Both teams have their home openers on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Flintridge Prep.
