Update [March 12]: The body found on March 11 at Corral Canyon Beach has been identified as a Hispanic male in his 40s, per LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office public information officer Sarah Ardalani.
He was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:15 p.m.
In an email to The Malibu Times, Ardalani wrote the exact identification is pending notification of next of kin. The autopsy is still pending.
A dead body was found at Corral Canyon Beach earlier in the afternoon on Monday, March 11.
The LA County Fire Department and Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department responded to “reports of a deceased person on the beach” around 2:30 p.m., per Lt. Mendoza. The body was located “by the rocks,” she described in a phone call with The Malibu Times.
A spokesperson with the fire department confirmed the body was “DOA”—dead on arrival.
The body was found in the vicinity of 25653 Pacific Coast Highway, near Corral Canyon Road.
Mendoza confirmed staff from the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene later in the afternoon and took the body.
The body had yet to be identified as of Monday evening. It was unclear what caused the death.
