There was an implication at the SSMC meeting last Monday night that Ramirez Canyon residents are “against trails.” Ramirez Canyon residents are fighting SMMC’s Public Works Plan because it proposes to continue to use zoned open space at the Streisand property for commercial purposes including large, loud catered weddings and parties for the rich. If hikers, equestrians, cyclists and nature lovers truly want to enjoy the hills surrounding Ramirez Canyon without interference and destruction from hundreds of people partying, drinking, smoking and playing loud DJ music at the end of a hazardous box canyon, read beyond Joe Edmiston’s headline that this plan is just about trails and overnight camping.
