Transient man arrested
for child annoyance
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested a transient man last week after he made lewd comments and remarks to underaged children in the Calabasas and Malibu areas.
William Russell Hix, 33 years old and a former resident of Bel Air, was arrested on Aug. 7 and charged with five misdemeanor counts of annoying/molesting a child, according to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
On Aug. 4, a young girl notified a Calabasas Parks and Recreation employee that a middle-aged man had asked her 14-year-old brother to put a condom on the suspect, prompting a police report.
After reviewing the initial reports, sheriffs began an investigation which uncovered area teenagers had been warning the community about the man through social media. The postings included a description and picture of the man.
Shortly after, four girls, 14 to 15, had reported that the man had recently harassed them during a bus ride or at the beach and had made lewd sexual comments.
On Aug. 7, law enforcement officials received a call from a local resident that the suspect was seen in a park on Lost Hills Road in Calabasas.
