I am eight years old and live in Topanga. Some of my little friends say there will not be a president. Papa says, “If I believe in democracy and read it in The Malibu Times it is so.” Please tell me the truth, will there ever be a president.

Dear Virginia;
Yes, we will have a winner in the presidential election and his name is Mr. Alan Greenspan. Remember, Mr. Greenspan is not in favor of big expensive government nor is he in favor of the reduction of the governmental money surplus. He wants things just the way he likes them. Since neither candidate (Bush/Gore), nor congress has the power to do anything over the next several years because of the closeness of the election and the balance in congress, the real winner is Mr. Greenspan who heads up the Federal Reserve which controls our nation’s money policies. Thank you for your interest in the governmental process. In America any child may become President and I suppose it’s just one of the risks they take living here.
