Credit where not due

Let’s get a clear and objective awareness of what truly happened regarding the acquisition of the Chili Cook-Off property and the use of it for a park. Someone is twisting the truth in order to have the Barovsky/Stern ticket take credit for the acquisition of the Chili Cook-Off property for a park and use that as a vehicle to drive their campaign.

This issue leaves a bad taste in my mouth because nothing can be further from the truth. Barovsky and Stern are the least deserving of credit for the acquisition of a Central Park for Malibu. Over the last four-plus years, the Malibu Community Action Network (MCAN) and many others fought to purchase and preserve the Chili Cook-Off property for a park, all the while Barovsky and Stern fought for commercial development. They supported and promoted Measure M which was the Malibu Bay Company “Development Agreement” to build 185,000 square feet on the Chili Cook-Off property alone.

This City Council had to be dragged to this purchase, “kicking and screaming all the way.” This political propaganda must stop. Don’t be fooled.
