I lost a friend the other day. His name was “Malibu” Frank Thomas.
I have lived on Point Dume for the past 29 years. I met Frank at the point about 10 years ago and he soon became a good friend. Every time I went to the local Pavilions market, Frank was there and we would share stories about his days in Marina Del Rey. He knew many of the same people I knew as a boy on the docks, including Captain Jimmy Lee and Dick Anderson.
He was a very talented man and an excellent mechanic who cared deeply about Malibu and soon became part of the fabric of our community. He was very kind to my loving wife Shelley and our children Krista and Gina. He was so blessed.
Even though Frank did not have a home, he had a home in our hearts. He has touched my family and me deeply, as well as those who cared to get to know him and spend time with him. Things will not be the same without Frank around. He will be in our hearts forever.
So long, old friend. Until we meet again.
