The Budget Rent-A-Car location on Pacific Coast Highway just east of the Malibu Pier is closing, an employee at the business confirmed Wednesday.
“The last day [of business] is going to be Monday,” Carlos Lucha, an employee of four months at the rental store, said in a telephone interview.
Lucha could not confirm the cause of the closure, but said he had heard the rent for the space had recently been raised and the company did not wish to pay it. An employee at Budget Rent-A-Car’s central Glendale office said a manager could call back Thursday with more information.
Lucha said he believed the rental service had operated at the location, in an unusual cross-shaped building at 22853 PCH, for more than 10 years.
