El Camino Firefighting Academy student Anthony Marron was the recipient of a Malibu Rotary Club scholarship award last week, presented at the May 17 Rotary Club meeting.

Marron applied for the scholarship earlier this year and won after a unanimous vote by the Rotarians in attendance of the April 19 Rotary Club meeting. Marron’s application video described his desire to become a firefighter after his work as an EMT, saying he was impressed by how they save lives and their calmness in emergency situations. He will attend El Camino, located in Torrance.

The scholarship was made possible through the hard work of two Rotarians: Michelle Sanamaria, who led the search looking for a candidate, and Margo Neal, who applied for and secured the vocational school scholarship grant through Rotary District 5280.
