A police chase over the LA-Ventura county line along Pacific Coast Highway ended in a crash on the surf near Yerba Buena Road late Thursday night, according to Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Steve Swindle.

The driver, identified as a 42-year-old male, was seen driving a white van on the Los Angeles side when he crashed into several vehicles around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. Four victims were involved in the car crash with minor to moderate injuries and were later transported to a hospital, according to Swindle.

Despite the crash, the driver continued on the highway before swerving into the residential area past Malibu restaurant Neptune’s Net. The Ventura County Fire Department, LA County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the chase. Upon arrival to the crash site, the van was found empty by sheriff’s officials.

The perpetrator was later found climbing out of the rocks with a possible ankle injury. He was also transported to the hospital. There has been no word yet on whether the male was intoxicated.
