The Malibu Planning Commission voted 3-1 at its regular meeting Tuesday night to adopt the controversial citywide View Restoration and Preservation Ordinance. Commission member Lisa Toledo voted against the measure, and commission member John Mazza abstained. The ordinance establishes a formal procedure for property owners to have foliage removed or trees trimmed on neighboring properties that have grown to obscure pre-existing views. The ordinance will be next heard by the Malibu City Council at a future meeting.
