Oppose OK of permits

Our community now has less than two weeks to contact the EPA to express our opposition to the construction of the Cabrillo Port LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal. This terminal will be located less than 15 miles from Malibu’s western beaches. It will be 14 stories tall, easily visible from the coast and, according to the latest draft of the Environmental Impact Report, it will emit hundreds of tons of airborne pollutants each year in an area which is directly upwind from Malibu.

One of the requirements for the LNG facility to be built is the granting of permits from the EPA to discharge water into the ocean and excessive pollutants into the atmosphere. We therefore strongly urge you to write a letter or send an e-mail to the EPA registering your protest on or before June 20. We must convince them there is major local opposition to the construction of this facility. E-mails or letters should be sent to: CWA Standards and Permits Office (WTR-5). Attn: Lisa Honor, USEPA, 75 Hawthorne Street, San Francisco, CA 94105. E-mail: honor.lisa@epa.gov.
