This morning at approximately 1124 hours, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Malibu Search and Rescue Team was called out to respond to a female adult hike with a reported broken leg on Backbone Trail approximately a 45 minute hike from Stunt Road in Malibu. Malibu SAR units responded to the location with Los Angeles County Fire personnel and Los Angeles County Fire Copter 18. Fire Copter 18 was able to establish communication with the injured hiker’s party through its dispatch and was guided to the injured hiker’s location. Fire Copter 18 landed nearby, packaged the patient and flew her to Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station for transport by ground ambulance.
