In response to “Dead local mountain lion found to be full of various poisons” published on Jan. 4.

The dead mountain lion was found to be full of poisons, according to your article.

It is well known that rat poisons are in wide use in Malibu. These poisons are killing wildlife such as cougars, hawks, bobcats, foxes and animals that prey on rats and mice for a living. It is heartbreaking that we are destroying local wildlife.

It is time to pass a law in Malibu outlawing the use of any anticoagulant rodenticides anywhere in any form—any poisons to control pests.

Poisons are like a bomb. You set one off, but you have no idea about the extent of the victims.

Some of the users are the professional exterminators hired

by us. One who came to get rid of my ants said poisons were their method to kill rats.

A friend of mine accidentally killed his dog when he put out rat poison on his property.

Let the City Council pass such a law; perhaps with the help of Andy Lopez, local gardener and columnist, to plan the law. (I don’t know him except through his column.)

If we continue this practice, we are party to this slaughter.

I strongly urge the council to consider this request promptly.
