The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department announced the addition of a juvenile intervention team (“J-Team”)—consisting of deputies Steve Arens, Rafael Mejia and Heather Parks—in late February.
These deputies are trained to identify and assist kids and teenagers who are at risk.
“By working with students, parents, school administrators and the community, the deputies accumulate a vast knowledge of juveniles who may be involved in criminal activity,” according to a social media post from LA County Sheriff’s Department. “The unit can then attempt to guide and encourage kids needing some type of assistance or diversion.”
