The Malibu SAR team, along with the L.A. County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol, responded to a report of a vehicle over the side of the road on Kanan Dume Rd. at 10:40 p.m. last night.

When rescuers arrived, they noticed two vehicles had been involved in an apparent accident, one that remained on Kanan Dume and one that had fallen several hundred feet over the side of the cliff, according David Katz with Malibu SAR.

The vehicle that remained on Kanan Dume was driven by a female in her 20s to 30s. The woman attempted to assist the driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old female from Agoura Hills, but lost consciousness in the canyon.

Malibu SAR along with rescuers from other local agencies worked together to rescue both women from the canyon. Both drivers were transported to a hospital for treatment.
