The Topanga Canyon Docents, a group of volunteers who lead nature hikes in Topanga State Park, are seeking volunteers. They will begin naturalist training for prospective new docents on Sept. 10 to lead hikes in 2017. Training includes a series of Saturday lectures from local experts and college professors on natural subjects ranging from weather patterns to local flora and fauna.  The classroom and in-the-field training take place at the Trippet Ranch Visitor Center in Topanga State Park, with classroom training every other weekend for six Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Included in enrollment is a one-year Topanga Canyon Docent membership with benefits such as a parking pass for Topanga State Park, hikes, potluck gatherings, trips, seminars and educational workshops.
