Malibu United Methodist Church (MUMC) and the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue (MJCS) cohosted their 18th annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The dinner was hosted to serve Malibu day labor workers, as well as those in need. Twenty turkeys were carved for the feast.
Volunteers served hot food to those who attended the event. MUMC and MJCS also collected clothing and personal care supplies to hand out throughout the day.
Community members use the day to give back. Celeste of Oceanne Malibu Salon and Nik Rae from Paper, Scissors Rock in Venice come to the dinner to donate their time and give free hair cuts. Susan Helm of the Pepperdine Nutrition Department donates pies every year.
