Last week I exercised my right to free speech by taking out an ad in your paper voicing my opposition to Beverly Taki running for office. Apparently, I did not make everyone happy. As a concerned voter, I believe in my obligation to let people know what I think at a critical decision point in our history.
For the many years I’ve lived in Malibu, it has been one of the most beautiful places on earth and I’d like to keep it that way. Electing virgins in government who are heavyweights in the real estate business is not the best way to guarantee I’ll have my way. Let. Ms. Taki put in some time on city issues, so we can predict how she will vote on changes that will affect us forever. Then we might elect her. Anyone who thinks otherwise can put their money where their mouth is and prove me wrong. I want to make it clear that my statements stemmed from strong convictions I hold, and I’m not related to anyone’s campaign in any way whatsoever.
