Business sense means dollars

I supported Barovsky and Stern the last time they ran for office. However, they have clearly demonstrated they do not have the business acumen required to run the city efficiently. As a result, I have decided to oppose their reelection

My reasons are quite simple. Barovsky and Stern endorsed Measure M (Malibu Bay Company Development agreement), which would have allowed significant development on the Chili Cook-Off property as well as in the Trancas area. Malibu voters rejected Measure M by more than 60 percent. It was this opposition that ultimate resulted in the purchase of the Chili Cook-Off site. Thank you, citizens of Malibu.

Barovsky and Stern informed Malibu they had grants amounting to $10 million to purchase the Chili Cook-Off. Upon losing $8 and a half million of those grants, they blamed the state for supplying inaccurate information. This statement is absolutely not true.

Their subsequent spin of “local control” also has nothing to do with reality. All California cities must meet identical requirements to receive requested state grants for wetland acquisition.

They claimed the hardware/lumberyard property lease would generate huge surpluses after paying for $17 and a half million in city guaranteed bonds. At closing, there is no lease, there is not lumberyard and there will be no surplus. Had they not blown the needed grants, we could buy the ball fields our kids so desperately need.

Malibu needs council people with business expertise. Vote for Mazza and Embree.
