A group of community activists rallied together in front of D’Amore’s World Famous Pizza in East Malibu on Friday afternoon to protest the the opening of a second location at Point Dume Village next year. Point Pizza Malibu, a staple of the Point Dume Village for 26 years, was not offered a lease renewal by property owner Zan Marquis and D’Amore’s is set to take over Point Pizza’s space next year.

The protest was the second one held in as many weeks. Approximately 20 people attended the rally, a sharp drop in attendance from the first rally, which attracted more than 150 protestors to Point Dume Village. Activists said they have gathered nearly 1,000 signatures in support of keeping Point Pizza open and asking D’Amore’s owner Joe D’Amore to reconsider the new lease he signed with Marquis.
