Your suggestion of a possible domestic use of the back page of the Times brought a smile to my face. It also reminded me of my childhood days during and after World War II. We would use the Liverpool Echo newspaper during the week and, as a treat on the weekends we would use The News of the World newspaper. It was a much more upscale newspaper and the actual pages were much softer on one’s cheeks. The editor would often put the face Adolf Hitler on the back page—I’m sure you can guess the reason for that.
I wonder if there are any Malibuites that were in England during those days. If so, I would love to hear from them.
In closing, to all your readers:
“Don’t Squeeze The Times”
