We would like to thank the Malibu City Council for their approval of a sign that will commemorate our daughter, Emily, to be placed directly under the Heathercliff Street sign. This compromise solution to our request for a partial street name change is one we are happy to accept.
We were especially moved by John Sibert’s recounting of a similar memorial in Connecticut. Our wish was for a highly visible, permanent tribute to Emily. The sign will accomplish this. We are so greatly appreciative to the Council. Each time we will pass the sign, we will think of our dear daughter. We hope that those who knew her will be reminded of her in a positive way-her kindness, her sweetness and her compassion. We also hope it will be a reminder to all to drive safely.
