Malibu resident Michael Richard Harris died Oct. 4 after two years fighting multiple system atrophy (MSA), a rare condition that causes symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease. He was 75.

Harris received a PhD from Stanford University in philosophy and history. He also attended UCLA Law School and practiced law in West Los Angeles.

Harris is survived by his wife Lyuba, his son Mark, his sister Lynne Bromley and many friends.

A memorial service will take place Oct. 30 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1031 Bienveneda Ave., in Pacific Palisades, at 2 p.m.
