Following a successful first term as mayor, Skylar Peak stepped down on Monday night after council unanimously voted to appoint John Sibert to the position of mayor, a promotion from his seat as mayor pro tem throughout much of 2014.
Council then appointed Laura Rosenthal to mayor pro tem.
“We’re doing a lot of good things here and we’re going to … hopefully continue to do things that will set a good example both here in Malibu and across California,” Peak said before stepping down.
