Many of us worked very hard for many years to create the City of Malibu, but what we have is not what we wanted. The form is wrong!
We wanted a city with a mayor—not a council—and our own fire and police departments—not borrowed contractors who have no real skin in the game.
We had all been through fires and we could have told you we would definitely prefer the revered volunteer firefighters used by so many cities across America instead of firemen with Thomas guides, waiting for orders. They fight fires, not overtime pay issues and time off. They care!
We need police department that knows us and works with us! And we need a mayor who responds 24 hours a day and can be recalled, not overpaid.
