Zuma Beach Junior Lifeguard to Compete at World Championships

Malibu local Holly Maine participated in the 2016 United States Lifesaving Association’s National Lifeguard Championships in Hermosa Beach where she placed first in the Rescue Board race. Maine also placed second in the Iron Guard, Run-Swim-Run, Swim Relay, Surf Ski and Surf Swim Race competitions, in addition to placing third for the Rescue Race event. Maine, 16, is a member of the Zuma Beach division of the LA County Junior Lifeguard program. She will go on to compete in the World Lifesaving Championships in the Netherlands, which takes place in September. She will be competing as a member of the United States Youth National Lifesaving Team.

Maine previously won first place for the Rescue Board race at last year’s National Lifeguard Championships. She has participated in multiple lifeguarding championships in the past year, winning gold medals on both the state and national levels.Â
