Malibu Rugby smashes Santa Monica

Rugby can be a brutal, but interesting, game as shown here.

Santa Monica RFC was no match for the Malibu Rugby Club in its most recent game last month. Malibu defeated Santa Monica, 64-5. The blowout victory was especially significant because Santa Monica is a Division 1 team in the league while Malibu is a Division 3, which is supposed to mean Santa Monica has a better team.

This summer, Malibu will play a faster game with only seven players on each side of the ball. The team will have public practices on Sundays at 11:45 a.m. at Zuma Beach Tower 13 and on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m. at Bluffs Park. Prior to the Wednesday practices, all children are welcome to attend sessions to learn rugby at 10:30 a.m. For more information, go to
