International Talk Like A Pirate Day was in full swing at Bank of Books storytime on Saturday morning. Donned in pirate attire, special guest Cap’n Steve Posey talked like a pirate as he read “Shiver Me Letters, A Pirate ABC” by June Sobel and Henry Cole, and “Pirate Pete’s Talk Like a Pirate” by Kim Kennedy and Doug Kennedy to an enthusiastic group of children.
“Steve is my go-to storytime reader. He loves kids — he’s a kid at heart himself — and he loves books,” Bank of Books Manager Pam Eilerson shared. “We had a great time dressing him up as a pirate for Saturday’s storytime, including the stuffed parrot, because what’s a pirate without his parrot?”
After storytime, children took turns being a pirate with Scully the Parrot posed on their shoulder and looking at pirate books. Cap’n Steve shared his treasured gold coins with children.
