Lifesaving Team Practices At Local Beach For French Competition

The United States Youth Lifesaving Team participated in a practice at Silver Strand Beach in preparation for the Lifesaving World Championships — Rescue 2014 — in Montpellier, France on Sept. 16-21. Members of the team include Tess and Spencer Farrar and Holly Maine, who have all participated in the Junior Lifeguard program at Zuma Beach for many years. 

Championship participants are an average age of 17 and have trained to compete in a range of surf events, including paddleboard, surfski and ironman. They have also been trained in pool events, including manikin tow, obstacle swim and simulated emergency response.
