In response to the Aug. 29 letter, “Lion at the Gate.” This resident of Trancas, bordering with the Santa Monica Mountains National Park, complains that mountain lions are eating his dogs, and no authorities are interested in hunting down these “terrorists.” He notes that days after one of his dogs was killed (by a lion), another one was also taken.
Dude, get a clue! Keep your non-native pets indoors at night, or move somewhere “safer!” The lions were there way before you moved in to better “love and respect nature.” I am amazed that these animals keep hanging in there with less and less territory available to do what they have done for thousands of years, although people like him will almost certainly help drive them to extinction in our local mountains.
If you’re going to love and respect nature, do it on nature’s terms, not yours.
