Malibu’s Once Upon A Time Children’s Theatre performed “The Ice Kingdom.” The play was co-directed by Julia Holland and DeeDee Davidson-Porter and featured performances by young Malibu actors. Performances took place July 26-27 at Malibu Playhouse in front of a sold-out audience.

Holland helped with the vocal training and choreography, hand-sewed the costumes and helped with pre-performance jitters. Holland said of the show, “I can’t believe what an amazing production the kids pulled off in three short weeks. This is one of the most successful and enjoyable productions we have ever had.”

Davidson-Porter, a graduate of the New York Tisch School of the Arts, teaches the children the mechanics of acting, including creating characters, blocking and being in the moment.

Once Upon A Time has staged productions of musicals for 10 years, including “Aladdin,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Cinderella.” The program works with children ages eight to 14.
