A cemetery proposed by developer Richard Weintraub could feature up to 54,816 plots for burials throughout the site off of Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway.
According to a site plan submitted to the city’s planning department earlier this week, “lawn crypts,” “bench estates,” “terrace estates” and “private family estates” could be among the thousands of plots. A 40-car underground parking garage is also proposed.
The only major structure appears to be a worship chapel near the entrance of the site off of Malibu Canyon Road. Several plots appear to be planned on an incline on the easternmost part of the 27.8-acre site, which dips down toward Winter Canyon, where the city is planning on constructing a sewer system for the Civic Center.Â
