Pepperdine golf star Sahith Theegala wrapped up an outstanding performance at the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open this past weekend, adding to his lengthy list of collegiate accomplishments. The sophomore earned a spot at the Genesis Open after bringing home the title from the Collegiate Showcase at Riviera Country Club, tieing for 49th place with a 2-under 282.
Last season, Theegala was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year and made the PING All-West Region and All-WCC first teams. His 71.06 freshman scoring average was the fourth-best in single-season history within the Pepperdine program, and the athlete’s quarterfinalist placement at the 2016 U.S. Amateur earned him a spot into the 2017 U.S. Amateur field.
Currently, Theegala has a team-best scoring average of 70.78, and is ranked number 38 in the nation by Golfstat.
