Seven Malibu High School students traveled to Ecuador over spring break to serve at the “For His Children” orphanage in the city of Quito. The trip was organized by Young Life Malibu Coast and Canyons, an international faith-based organization that supports middle and high school students in Pacific Palisades and Malibu through mentoring and weekly events.

Many of the 45 orphans at the “For His Children” orphanage, who range in age from 14 months to 14 years old, were born with physical or mental disabilities. The Malibu High School volunteers helped with physical therapy and swimming exercises to build physical strength, and assisted with the day-to-day jobs necessary to keep the orphanage running. The student volunteers also practiced English with local Ecuadorians and experienced a new culture.
