The Malibu High School softball team has been named a CIF Southern Section Team Academic Winner. The honor is awarded to the softball team with the highest grade point average in the conference. The girls had a cumulative GPA of 3.85, the best in the CIF-SS for schools with an enrollment of 1,499 or less.

“It is truly a team award, and the school will be getting a banner that we will proudly hang in the gym,” MHS Athletic Director Chris Neier said.

The team will be honored at a ceremony before the Los Angeles Angels game on Wed., April 24.

The Sharks are managed by Coach Mark Cooley in his first year at MHS.
